Orvieto is very easy to reach by train due its train station is in the main railway line between Rome and Florence. We really advice to get Orvieto by train if you want to avoid to rent a car, you don’t need a car to vist Orvieto, and have headache to find a parking space in the historical town. In case you your accommodation is located outside the historical town we advice to book a taxy from the train station to your hotel, B&B, villa, etc…

Well, where are you actually?

1 – Leonardo Da Vinci intercontinental  airport

First step: From Airport station to Roma Termini station.

From the airport there is a train shuttle that reach Roma Termini in about 32 minutes called Leonardo Express with programmed departures every 15 minutes (every 30 minutes during certain time periods).

Second step: From Roma Termini to Orvieto train Station.

There are several trains from Roma Termini to Orvieto train station along the day. You have a choice of IC trains (Intercity) or a R (regional) trains. The IC trains take more or less 1h10 minutes to reach Orvieto meanwhile the R trains take in average 1h25 minutes. The regional trains are quite cheaper compared to the IC trains.

Third step: From the train station to the historical town

The easiest way to reach the historic town once in Orvieto is to get the cable car (funicolare). From the train station you just cross the stree and get the cable car that take 1 minute to move you up. From there you can get the public minibus to reac the neares stop to your accommodation. Cable car runs between 7.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. (8.00 a.m. on festivity).

In case you are tired or the baggages start to be very eavy, the taxi station is located just outside the train station left side. We advice to book a taxi in advance due we are not in London and limited number of taxi can be busy and not present at your arrival.

2 – Ciampino airport

First step: From Ciampino airport to Roma Termini train station.

From Ciampino airport the easiest way to reach Roma Termini train station is by bus  or by taxi. Just outside the exit you can find the taxi station or the bust station.

By Car

The easiest way to reach Orvieto by car is to get the Higway A1. The Orvieto toll gate leads you very close to the historic town located only 6 km (3.7 miles) far away.
